OREANDA-NEWS  The United States disrupted a meeting of the BRICS Finance Ministries and Central Banks (CB) by not issuing visas to the Russian side. This was stated by Alexey Mozhin, executive Director from Russia at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), RIA Novosti reports.

"Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov and First Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyukhin were due to arrive. They have applied for visas. In addition, employees of these departments were supposed to come with them (...) By the way, a meeting of deputy finance ministers and chairmen of the Central Bank of the BRICS countries was scheduled for Tuesday, which was disrupted," the representative said.

Mozhin stressed that the American embassy declared its readiness to issue visas only at the moment when business trips were canceled, and the conference began without the participation of Russia. He also added that Moscow would never have done the same to Western countries, regardless of the state of relations.

Earlier, Mozhin accused the IMF of financing terrorism because of assistance to Ukraine. He noted that for the most part, loans issued by the fund allow Kiev to repay old debts. For this reason, there is practically no net increase in the fund's funds, stated Mozhin.
