OREANDA-NEWS  The incident with the shooting of unarmed Russian servicemen by the Ukrainian military should be thoroughly investigated. This was stated on Tuesday at a briefing by the Deputy representative of the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq.

"This is something that requires careful study and investigation," he said, adding that the UN is "concerned about any human rights violations, regardless of who commits them."

A video clip showing the Ukrainian military shooting Russian soldiers who surrendered and lying on the ground appeared on the Internet on November 18. According to the Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC) Valeria Fadeeva, the shooting took place in the village of Makeyevka in the LPR. The head of the HRC called this incident a demonstrative defiant crime and said that he would demand an international investigation. The HRC will send information about the massacre to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, the human rights organization Amnesty International, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other organizations.
