OREANDA-NEWS The Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, has congratulated Mikhail Mishustin on his recent appointment as Prime Minister of Russia, according to the state agency Belta.

In a message, Lukashenko expressed his congratulations to Mishustin for his new position as Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, had signed a decree appointing Mishustin to the position of Prime Minister.

It has also been reported that Mishustin's nomination for the prime minister's position was supported by a majority of 375 State Duma deputies. None of the parliamentarians opposed the appointment, while 57 abstained from voting.

Mishustin personally thanked the State Duma members for their support and endorsement of his candidacy for prime minister.
