OREANDA-NEWS The branch of the Russian company Lukoil in the Bulgarian city of Burgas presented 300 thousand euros to the city for landscaping, the local portal "Chernomorye" reports.

The donation agreement was signed at an official ceremony by the Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, and the Chairman of the Board of Lukoil Neftochim, Yevgeny Manyakhin. The donated funds will be used to build a new playground and fitness area on the Central Beach of Burgas - with sports equipment and a rope bridge.

"We are present here not only as a business, we live here. We are part of this community and this region. It will be 25 years since we have been in Burgas in October. We feel the support of the city, because the conditions for business are created here. Twenty-five years is a whole generation," said the head of Lukoil Neftochim.

In early December, Lukoil announced that, due to discriminatory laws, it would review its strategy regarding assets in Bulgaria and analyze the possibility of selling the business in the country.

Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova stated in this regard that the decisions of the authorities regarding the Lukoil Neftochim refinery in Burgas have nothing to do with the civilized regulation of large businesses, and warned that this enterprise will not be able to be bought at a reduced price, despite all the restrictions on its activities.

The Bloomberg agency, in its publication on the situation in Burgas in early April, reported that local residents were afraid of the consequences of changing the owner of the enterprise, which they "speak with love."
